Troop 44 has been chartered to St. Paul Presbyterian Church for 35 years and we meet weekly on Thursdays, 7:00 - 8:30 PM at the church.

Life Scout Daniel Whitten is killed in combat

U.S. Army Capt. Daniel Whitten, who died in Afghanistan on Tuesday, February 2, was a member of Boy Scout Troop 44 from 1992 – 1997. Daniel was also a member of Pack 244 prior to joining the Troop and received his Arrow of Light award in February, 1992, under the leadership of Gary Beardsley. Daniel was very active in the Troop and earned his Life rank in 1995. His interest in the Army began early and he joined the Army Junior ROTC unit at Hoover High School.

Adult Leader Training

Dates for the adult leader training are posted on the calendar on this web site and at www.bsa-ia.org. April 8, April 10 and the weekend of April 16-18 are the dates for the spring course, 2010. Pre-registration is required. You must attend all these sessions plus take the online courses This is Scouting, Boy Scout Leader Fast Start and Youth Protection. All adults participating in camping events, summer camp and the Washington trip in 2010 need to take part in this training.

Troop 44 and Pack 244 Friends of Scouting is an organization whose mission is to provide financial support to these two units. The non-profit organization is not a part of either the Troop or Pack, but operates with an Executive Board and a Board of Directors, who meet quarterly.
