May 8 - 10, is the next outing for Troop 44 and tent camping at Yellow Banks, on the suth side of Des Moines.
As the name implies, 150-foot high yellow banks tower above the Des Moines River in this southeast Polk County park. Native American artifacts have been found in the park, along with a burial mound. Migrating hawks and bald eagles are often spotted along this wild stretch of river. Don’t forget to hike the Savanna Trail and marvel at a rare oak savanna woodland.

If you don’t already know, we are in the process of migrating to a new computer, and it has not been without issues. April 24—26 is the biennial Galena Pilgrimage event for Scouts. We will be tent camping at Swiss Valley, near Dubuque.
2026 is the bicentennial of the town and the theme of this year’s event. Galena is the home of President/General Grant’s wife, Julia, and the town built a home for the family.

1. You need signed approval from the Scoutmaster to open a merit badge.
2. Request a blue card from Heather for the specific badge you have chosen and it must be signed by the Scoutmaster.
