Welcome !

Welcome to Troop 44's web site designed to make communication faster and easier for our families. Monthly newsletters, calendars and permission slips are all published here along with a lot of other useful information. Weekly meeting plans are sent to every Scout via email and also posted here.
Troop 44 has been chartered to St. Paul Presbyterian Church since 1972 and we meet weekly on Thursdays, 7:00 - 8:30 PM at the church. We currently have between 20 and 30 registered Scouts and about the same number of adults participating as leaders or committee members.
The site is protected for the benefit of our Scouts. Please use the 'contact us' function if you need more information.

Eagle Scout Shawn Larson

Posted on Aug 5 2020 - 11:12pm

We are very sad to report that an Eagle Scout from Troop 44, Shawn Larson, passed away on Tuesday, August 4, from liver failure. Shawn and twin brother, Chad, were part of Troop 44 in the 1990’s, both lived in Des Moines with their mom, Reba, who passed away in 2018. Shawn was employed by Principal, as their emergency and global security manager. He leaves a wife and a 12 year-old son, a Scout in a Norwalk troop. Shawn is one of a group of four boys who all were part of our troop and stayed together as friends throughout college and to the present day. He was 40 years old.

Johnston Troop 44 and Pack 244 Friends of Scouting is one of the organizations that is a member of the United Way Donor Choice program and eligible for funds that are given during the United Way Campaigns run through the fall of each year. It is the money primarily raised through this avenue that is used to help offset the cost of summer camp, training programs like NYLT and equipment used by the Scouts on outings.
