Welcome !

Welcome to Troop 44's web site designed to make communication faster and easier for our families. Monthly newsletters, calendars and permission slips are all published here along with a lot of other useful information. Weekly meeting plans are sent to every Scout via email and also posted here.
Troop 44 has been chartered to St. Paul Presbyterian Church since 1972 and we meet weekly on Thursdays, 7:00 - 8:30 PM at the church. We currently have between 20 and 30 registered Scouts and about the same number of adults participating as leaders or committee members.
The site is protected for the benefit of our Scouts. Please use the 'contact us' function if you need more information.

Maquoketa Caves Outing May 14 - 16

Posted on Apr 25 2021 - 2:17pm

Maquoketa, Iowa 52060
Maquoketa Caves is probably Iowa's most unique state park. Its caves, limestone formations and rugged bluffs provide visitors a chance to "step back" into geological time thousands of years. Caves vary from the 1,100' Dancehall Cave with walkways and lighting system to Dugout Cave. The remaining caves are all different sizes and shapes. Some can be explored by walking while others can best be seen by crawling. In any case, a flashlight and old clothes and shoes are most helpful.

Mid-Iowa Council Fees to increase & National Bankruptcy actions

Posted on Apr 11 2021 - 3:37pm

the Mid-iowa Council announced new fees that will go into effect this fall:

2022 Registration Fees (from the March, Scout Shorts):

The Boy Scouts have had a few challenges over the past year which have affected its financial stability. Here at home, Mid-Iowa Council also has had its share of challenges in addition to the diminished National Council support, the pandemic has resulted in a reduction in membership -4100 youth (-39%, lost 62 units), and a catastrophic weather event at camp. It feels like we’ve been pulled through one of those old washing machine ringers.

Flag Box

Owen is the new Scribe and in that position, he becomes responsible for emptying the flag drop box each week. To date, 267 flags have been taken from the box to be destroyed.
